Once In A Lifetime Honor

Just in, folks: Chris Callen, reports that yesterday, while visiting the Lakota Sioux, Pine Ridge Reservation, he had the opportunity to meet and speak with Chief Oliver Red Cloud.

Chris explains,

“I brought him a can of tobacco and we had some time to talk about his life and pray for the Hoka Hey Challenge riders while seated on Chief Oliver Red Cloud’s front porch.  There’s no way I can put into words what an honor it was to meet this great man and to have the chance to spend some time talking with him yesterday afternoon.

In his lifetime, Chief Oliver Red Cloud has spoken before the United Nations and the United States Congress as well as spending a great many years as the leader of the Lakota Sioux Nation.”

I can only imagine what this experience must have been like.  Rarely do we come across irreproachable leaders who’ve stood the test of time, carrying the weight of their peoples’ needs as they move through life having all of the same problems we all do in addition to the ominous yolk they bare.  What a great honor for Chris to have spent time with Chief Oliver Red Cloud.

What a great challenge for the rest of us to live up to the legacy of this great man and others like him!
