Well, folks it has come to this writer’s attention following our riders across this great land of ours that there’s actually a landing strip in Wyoming, along the Hoka Hey route, called the, “Green River Intergalactic Spaceport.” Now, if you’re anything like me, you gotta wonder, ‘What the hell are they landing at that freakin’ place?’
Now, I’m not suggesting that this place isn’t completely on the up-and-up, but you have to give them credit for having extreme self-assuredness in their naming convention. They may not have the technology yet, but damn it all, their name tells us they plan to be the first! More power to them! Who knows, maybe, when you walk through the door, they’ve got the Beastie Boys cranking! We can only hope.
Now, back on Mother Earth,Chris Callen reports that the majority of Hoka Hey riders he’s met along the way couldn’t be happier with this run. Like Chris, some have given up on the cash, long ago, and feel free to travel whatever roads they want, seeing parts of the country they’ve always wanted to see. These riders are skip-checking along the checkpoints to keep up with what’s happening with all things Hoka Hey, but are perfectly content to find their own road to Homer, Alaska.
On a more somber note, Chris passed a rider down in and around the intersection of routes 70 and 24 in northern Utah this morning. Our thoughts and prayers go out to this and all the riders on the Challenge and their loved ones back home.
To all of those traveling the Hoka Hey road, on or off the route provided, may you have a safe and blessed journey. There’s much love from all of us at home and here at Cycle Source Magazine! Peace!!!
